Since 1969, WSDG has provided full service architectural design, acoustic consulting and engineering services specializing in implementation and integration of technology infrastructure in the built environment.
Our client’s projects include facilities for music and media production and broadcasting, performing arts complexes, multimedia teleconferencing centers, distance learning, residential entertainment spaces, houses of worship, industrial acoustical applications, product development, transportation facilities, sports venues, university campuses and numerous other types of projects.
WSDG also specializes in advanced audio-video production and information systems design, presentation systems and multichannel audio applications. Each of these applications may include acoustical measurements, programming, optimization, acceptance testing and owner training.
USA
John Storyk, principal architect and acoustician, and design partner Beth Walters head WSDG’s main office located in New York. They are both leaders in the field of acoustical and architectural design with over 3000 innovative professional audio and video facility design installations to their credit worldwide.
WSDG is committed to serving a global client base by operating offices in Argentina, Brazil and Switzerland, with representation in Miami, Mexico City, Beijing and San Francisco. Each regional center operates independently as a local competence center, building on WSDG’s global network, sharing projects, resources and expertise.
Argentina
The Argentina office, located in Buenos Aires, is headed by Sergio and Silvia Molho, both of whom are experienced audio and video engineers. Since 1994, the Argentinean office has lead WSDG’s marketing efforts in Latin America and Asia and contributes a variety of architectural design services for the group.
Brazil
The Brazil office, located in Belo Horizonte, is headed by Renato Cipriano, Grammy award winning audio engineer and civil engineer. Renato is a former student of John Storyk. Operating all across the country, the Brazilian office contributes design development expertise for the other offices.
Switzerland
The Switzerland office, located in Basel, is headed by Dirk Noy, M.Sc Physics and SAD Audio Engineering. Dirk is also a former student of John Storyk. The Switzerland office serves the local European media production and commercial audio industries and is also responsible for advanced acoustical modeling, simulation and auralization studies that are shared with the other WSDG offices.
The USA, Switzerland, Latin and Brazil offices work closely, contributing to the unique international style that has become WSDG’s trademark. While delivering cutting edge technology in the field of architectural acoustic design and analysis, combined with ergonomic and stylish interiors, WSDG defines their projects with environmentally conscious solutions. Leadership, Education
John Storyk as well as Dirk Noy and Renato Cipriano are popular lecturers at professional conventions and educational institutions and have developed the Acoustics curriculums at Full Sail and Ex’Pression College. John Storyk is Adjunct Professor at Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts; Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pennsylvania; University of Colorado, Denver; and the Ex’Pression Center For New Media in San Francisco. Dirk Noy is Instructor for Acoustics and Specialized Audio Applications (Bachelor Degree) at SAE (School of Audio Engineering) in Zurich. Renato Cipriano is Instructor of Acoustics at IAV- Instituto de Áudio e Vídeo, in Săo Paulo.
Recent Projects
Recent high-end WSDG projects include Talking House Studios, San Francisco; Oven Studios for Alicia Keys; Roc the Mic for Juan Perez/Jay-Z; Le Poisson Rouge, a 21st Century performance venue in NY’s Greenwich Village; a home studio for top producer/engineer Yaron Fuchs and the Martin Scorsese Media Center at Cardinal Hayes High School in NYC.
Current Projects
Current projects include three major multi-media and large conference center design projects in Beijing, China; the Vatican-funded Pontificia Universidad Javeriana project in Bogotá, Colombia which will be South America’s largest high tech Digital Arts, Audio and Video Educational Building; MTV Latin Studios newest Facility, including Audio and Video Post Suites and TV Studios in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Continuing Legacy
WSDG is noted for working with legendary artists Jimi Hendrix, Whitney Houston, Bob Marley, Tracy Chapman, Goo Goo Dolls, Bruce Springsteen and feature film score composer/producer Carter Burwell. Past projects include: Integrated Studios, New York City; Jazz at Lincoln Center - under the direction of Wynton Marsalis; Mercury Records, Atlantic Records and SBK Records in New York; teleconferencing facilities for IBM and Cemex; Educational Campus Full Sail / Platinum Post, Orlando; a five studio complex for LA Studio's Margarita Mix; Crescendo Studios in San Francisco; a 900 seat sanctuary, professional recording studio and educational complex for Crossroads Tabernacle, Bronx, NY; and Bob Ludwig's Gateway Mastering.
International Projects
Additional international projects of note include Synchrosound’s eight studio complex in Malaysia; Pangu Hotel, seven star luxury hotel in Beijing;
In Argentina: Labor Department Auditorium, Buenos Aires, Fito Paez/Circo Beat Studios, Buenos Aires; Audio Artes, Costa Rica; Philippe Starck’s Faena/El Porteno, a luxury hotel, apartment and entertainment complex, Buenos Aires; Teatro Provincial de La Rioja, Argentina.
In Brazil: Theater for the Inhotim Museum; production and recording studios for top artists such as Skank, Ivete Sangalo, Jota Quest; studios for gospel artists like Cassiane (Reuel Studios) and Diante do Trono.
